Privacy Policy

Vianda is built to learn your taste, not to track you. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, and the services involved. Plain language, no surprises.

What stays on your device

Most of what makes Vianda personal lives only on your iPhone:

  • Your taste profile and palate history
  • Saved recipes, favorites, and cooking activity
  • Dietary preferences, cooking skill, and the name you enter
  • Your meal plans and shopping lists

There is no account and no password. You can erase all of this at any time with Profile → Reset App.

What is sent off your device, and why

Some features need a server to work:

  • AI recipe features. When you generate, parse, or adapt a recipe, the dish name and recipe text are sent to our processing server, which uses Google's Gemini model to do the work. Generated recipes may be cached (keyed by dish name and creator) so others don't have to regenerate the same dish. We don't attach your identity to these requests.
  • Photos you import. If you import a recipe from a screenshot or photo, the image is processed to identify the dish. You confirm the result before anything is saved.
  • Usage analytics. We use Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used and where the app can improve. This includes standard app and device information and in-app events, plus coarse properties such as whether you subscribe and your palate archetype. It is not used to identify you personally.
  • Subscriptions. Vianda Pro is processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, which tells the app whether your subscription is active. Payment details are handled by Apple, never by us.

Services we rely on

Vianda uses a small set of trusted providers, each with its own privacy policy:

  • Google (Gemini for AI features, Firebase for analytics)
  • RevenueCat (subscription status)
  • Supabase (our backend, which proxies AI requests and caching)
  • Pexels (stock food photography)
  • Mapbox (the food-and-travel maps)
  • Instacart (only if you choose to send a shopping list)

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data.
  • We don't show third-party ads.
  • We don't ask for your contacts, location, or browsing history.

Keeping and deleting data

On-device data stays until you delete it or remove the app. Use Reset App in Profile to wipe everything locally. To request removal of any server-side cached content tied to recipes you created, email us and we'll take care of it.

Children

Vianda is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the new version here.
